Ways By Which You Can Maintain Your Transmission

May 2nd, 2010

Cars will function properly if the transmission used is in good working condition. It is imperative that you keep a regular scheduled maintenance on your car’s transmission so as to prevent it from experiencing any problems in the future. If you are going to do it by yourself, you need to take note of a few things which you need to add or change. Learn how to do proper car transmission maintenance through the methods provided below.

Whether you are using manual or automatic transmission, you need to change the oil as well as the transmission oil filter. We can say that the transmission oil is like the lifeblood of the engine, so it is essential that it needs to be replaced from time to time. You can basically do this within a few minutes.

First, remove the old oil by loosening the drain plug located underneath your car. Use a socket wrench and unscrew the plug so that the oil will start to drain from it. Afterwards, replace the drain plug on the oil pan.

And then you should remove the previously used oil filter using an oil filter wrench. The oil filter is very distinguishable, because it looks like a black cylinder usually besides the engine located inside the hood of your vehicle. As soon as you find it, you need to coat the new oil filter opening with a little bit of oil so that it won’t get stuck as you place it on the mount. Afterwards, you can then place the new filter on the mount and ensure that you have screwed it tightly and ensuring as well that it will not go loose. Add new oil by removing the oil filler cap and with the use of a funnel, you can add the new oil.

Last but certainly not the least, you can provision some specialized additives to your transmission oil. Provisioning these products is very good for your transmission and it will extend the life of your transmission. You may also install a transmission cooler which keeps the oil at a good, low temperature. By accomplishing this, it is highly unlikely that your car’s transmission will break down easily.

These tips are really simple when it comes to making sure that you are doing proper maintenance on your transmission. The main reason why you should accomplish these steps is to make sure that your transmission will work smoothly for a long time without being damaged. Otherwise, you will encounter problems which will lead you to spend more time and money getting your car fixed.

How to lengthen the lives of your cars

January 8th, 2010

One of the biggest investment that a person would do in his/her life is owning a car.  A lot of times the car they buy will take years for them to pay off.  With that in mind it is wise to make sure the car you pay so much for lasts a long time.  Well in this article we are going to go over some things you can do to make sure it does.

One of the things you can do to keep your car in good shape is to regularly change its oils.It may be unbelievable at first but this task is an effective way to keep your car in good shape.  In my San Marcos auto repair shop I have seen how cars that do regular oil changes last longer. It makes sense since oil is an integral part of a car which makes it run.Regularly changing the oil will then naturally make it last longer.

Another way to lengthen the life of your car is to make it undergo regular tuneups. It is one of the most overlooked things which you must do to your car.  I recommend all my clients of my Carlsbad auto repair shop to at least do it once a year. The reason behind this is that so the mechanics would see any problems that can get worse if unchecked.

Finally you want to be easy on driving your car.A car is not a cheap investment so you might as well go easy on your driving. If you don’t drive well then it will affect the longevity of your car.But if you go easy on it while driving it can last long.  It is simple advice but it is advice I give all my clients of my San Marcos transmission repair shop.If they can just maintain their cars well then their cars would do the same for them.

So if you follow this little bit of advice you will be rewarded with a car that lasts a long time.

Caring for your car’s two essential parts

December 3rd, 2009

We need them, that is one certain thing about cars in our society. Many people in different places can’t really survive without a car. Sure there are buses but it makes it hard especially in this busy life.It makes sense to know how to care for cars since they are very important in our lives. So we are going to inspect to key parts of our car that requires to be maintained regularly.

The engine is the first part that is very important to a car. This is comparative to the car’s heart.  If you don’t take care of this part of your car it will die. So in my San Marcos auto repair service I make sure my customers know how important this part is.And it is also simple to take good care of. If a person were to just do regular tune ups and change the oil they will keep their car in good shape.

Next part of the car that is important is the transmission. This is critical in being able to drive your car. Any use of your car ceases if your transmission breaks down.  In my Carlsbad auto repair shop I see so many broken down transmissions. Most of the failures could have been avoided. The main method to do that is to ensure a sufficient supply of essential fluids at all times. And to make sure to gently change gears and doing such always at a complete stop.

Taking good care of your car’s transmission and engine isn’t that difficult as you can see.  All it takes is a commitment to make sure to care for that part of your car.I tell all my clients of my shop that doing a little maintenance today will enable them to save a large amount of money in the future.  Those that are willing to do that end up having cars that last a long time without any problems. Those who don’t end up with cars that have to bring in many times due to problems.
