14- And 10-year-old Brothers Test Drive Porsche 911 GT3 RS

When you asked dad if you could borrow the keys to the car as a teenager, was that car a Porsche 911 GT3 RS? Just about every one of us would respond with a resounding “no.” But for brothers Schorschi Wörle and Steppi Wörle, aged 14 and 10, daddy just happens to own a Porsche dealership in Germany. Autoblog reports that the senior Wörle has such confidence in his young sons that he not only allows them to help out with the family business, but he lets each of them slide behind the wheel of 911 GT3 RS tester vehicles and compete in local auto club competitions. You won’t be driving Porsche 911 GT3 RS any time soon, dear American kids

That isn’t because the Porsche 911 GT3 RS isn’t available in America (it isn’t, unless you import it). It’s because, honestly, how many dads in America can give kids what they want like Mr. Wörle and not see it all end in twisted metal, smoke and manifold flames? Most fathers aren’t Porsche dealers like him, and they don’t own their own tester race track. And his kids can really drive, too, which is more than can be said for most people.

Porsche has a long history of snuffing out elegant, powerful sports cars, and the 911 GT3 is definitely no exception. According to an entry on Wikipedia, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a high-performing sports vehicle that has been in production since 2003. The RS in German stands for RennSport, and in English, racing sport. It is lighter than previous 911 GT3 models thanks to polycarbonate and carbon fiber window and body parts, while optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) resist heat and fading much more readily than standard iron units. The 911 GT3 RS can get up to nearly 400 hp with its updated cylinder heads with reshaped intake and exhaust ports. The car can go from 0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds and top out at around 190 mph, as reported by various sources.

The 2005 Boxster looks sprightly

The Porsche Boxster and Boxster S are fast, powerful cars and most of all the best-handling production roadsters in the world.  Introduced in 1996, it remained basically unchanged, aside from moderate horsepower and interior-options tweaks.  That’s what Porsche often does with the successful models : it keeps vehicle look and configuration for ages.

The bodywork and the interior of the Boxster are of high quality, but considering that there’s noting tough or only decorative, we will definitely say that these aren’t opulent automobiles.  Still, the inside has been improved since the old automobile was often criticised for being to cheap-looking.  The center console has been upgraded with revised switch-gear and titanium look paneling.  The seats are more supportive and body-shaped in the most recent version, making them look absolutely fantastic.  Unlike the other roadsters, the Boxster has no problem swallowing luggage for a long trip : it has two trunks, a little one in the rear and an amply deep one under the front hood. 

One of The Boxsters best qualities is the powered convertible top, really quick to retract or re-erect.  In the new Boxster, the top can be operated at a velocity up to 30 mph.  The triple-layer padded cloth tops ( with a heated-glass rear window ) is as weather-tight and quiet as most metal roofs.

The Boxster is referred to as a mid engine-car.  The explanation is that the sweet six-cylinder engine is mounted behind the seats, just fore of the rear axle.  So if you wandto see what’s under the hood once in while, well you can’t do that with The Boxster.  The only possible way to see the engine is from beneath or by painstakingly removing body panels, which mechanics must do to service the engine.  But, the excellent news is that having the engine mounted closer to the center of the car makes for better weight distribution.  And that is what makes the car handle so well.
