What You Can Expect From A Chevrolet Corvette

July 2nd, 2009

General Motors manufactures Chevrolet Corvette in their Kentucky assembly plant. This auto falls in the sports automobile class. Corvettes are either 2 doorway coupes or 2 doorway convertibles. Chevrolet Corvette is very like Dodge Viper and Ford GT.

Extremely robust engines are one of the distinguishing features of this auto. But though the engine packs power it’s not complex. An overhead valve together with a larger displacement, use of leaf springs in suspension makes Chevrolet Corvette what it is.

Other cars in the similar category are made with a much more complex engine. The autos are in many colors like sunset orange, silver gray. There have been many models of Chevrolet Corvette each better than the previous one.

Corvettes are very sophisticated cars, but they have a small history behind them. Corvette is a small fighting frigate and the vehicle has taken its name from them. The naming has been done by a man called Myron Scott.

Though now General Motors manufacture them in an enormous way, the 1st car built in Flint, Michigan was practically hand made. From that first auto the newest Chevrolet Corvette model exposed in the last quarter of 2005, as a model for 2006, has indeed come a long way. General Motors have constantly attempted to make the newer models a cut above the rest, but without any mind astounding complexities. In the niche market, Corvettes stand tall.

Owning a Chevrolet Corvette is a matter of pride. They are classy and expensive. Only a real automobile connoisseur can truly appreciate the beauty of a Corvette. Fuel economy is another attraction of a Corvette. The cars have become very popular especially with people that are rather brave and enjoy speed.

Dealers may be able to guide the shopper and Corvettes come with a thirty six month guaranty. There’s the benefit of insurance also. Corvettes supply a cosy ride, but compared to other sports automobiles, there is less agility due to a light steering and its width. The interior of the 2006 model is an improvement on the earlier models.

There is a big market for used automobiles and with the arrival of internet buying and selling vehicles became so easy and convenient. In truth getting the product details or information about new models is simple too. There are used vehicle dealers and the possible seller can contact them. But getting attached to Chevrolet Corvette is so easy, few think of getting rid of it.

1963 Chevrolet Corvette An Awesome Classic

June 22nd, 2009

The arrival of the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray heralded big changes in the march onward in the Chevrolet Stingray. The Sting Ray was available as both a “Roadster “version with a removable hardtop and a “Coupe” occasionally known as a fastback.

Onwards from 1963 to 1967 the Sting Ray got even better with a larger number of options for both luxury and power performance. This was the heyday of the days of sports car customizers. And the Corvette Sting Ray was the perfect 100 % raw material for the sports car customizers. Headlights were molded and in and the fenders were removed. So many Corvettes received an extra pair of taillights that people who they were actually a General Motors Chevrolet Corvette factory option. Later when the low profile wide tires came along, so did huge fender flares. The velocity plant industry had boomed, so the bulk of Corvette engine parts were being replaced by the most recent : Hot Setup”. Rochester fuel injectors were being removed because of service issues, and everyone heard the single four barrel in a high riser manifold was better. In 1965 the 1st Chevy big-block was introduced in the Corvette, and the performance was more than awesome.

Another new body style - both bigger and heavier was introduced in 1968. Many thought this was the beginning of the decline of the Corvette, But in the vital performance department, the 427 cubic inches Rat Motor with its 3 two-barrel carbohydrates and the 435 horse power ratings more than powered the Corvette legend of lore. No letting down of the powerful picture of the ‘Vette.

Things got even better right on up to the 1969 L-88with aluminum cylinder heads the 1970 LS-6 rated at a mighty 465 horse power rating. The word Corvette invokes the image of high performance sports car performance. An older age group replaced the street racer cult as the primary patrons and shoppers of the Vette. More of the Corvettes were equipped with such luxury and comfort options as air conditioning, power steering and telescoping steering columns. It wasn’t long before the Corvette with emission devices and soon the real ‘Vette kind of performance was history.

What was more than engaging was the reply original hot rodder modification group. The dazzling part of all of this is the way the circle came round. Karma sneaks in.

The same dedicated group of sport auto fans and hot rodders, who modified the older, pre mainstream luxury comfort model Corvettes, is now the ones who revive this same converted Corvette back to actual stock specifications.

How could these people justify the work and effort of taking these cars back in time to factory specs when a great period of time, effort and cost had been invested in these extremely cars? A second hand Corvette at the time was essentially a particularly enticing sports auto buy.

Why were revive vehicles in style and even preferred over the earlier changed ones. Partly it had been a case of limited supply and very high prices being offered by the stock type Corvettes and classic car auctions and the prices being asked in the special car groups and publications. Really it may be said it can be a combo of the custom vehicles getting old and needing refurbishing and the 55 mile speed limit in the time. Perhaps as well it definitely was a question of maturity on the children who were the Corvette hot rodders at the time. See the influence of time, life and having a family with its change of priorities can have on the wildest kids.
