Ford Brings us the Best Hybrid Car to Date
Honda and Toyota have had the midsized market all to themsleves with their entries; the Camry and the Accord, since Ford has dropped the Taurus from their line.Originally introduced in Ford’s 2006 line-up, the Fusion has new modications including the new Hybrid power plant. Ford officially released the Fusion Hybrid recently at the Los Angeles Auto Show late in 2008.The new Ford Fusion recieves some of the best in-town gas mileage, that only a hybrid can get.Beating out the Toyota Camry by a large margin, and the economical Civic Hybrid by a hair; the Fusion Hybird is ranked at 41 MPG in town driving.Without the gas engine, the Fusion can drive up to 47 MPH on just the electric motor alone. Already there have been many automotive magazines that have employed this system to achieve much better MPG ratings then the EPA estimates.
Technology in the Fusion allows drivers to learn which style of driving is best for maximizing fuel economy. They have created an ingenious system which is built into the instrument cluster called the SmartGauge.The driver is innundated with info from the dual data monitors next to the gauge cluster.The first monitor will indicate just how much gas is left and also how much energy is left in the battery pack.The 2nd display shows the vehicle tachometer and also tells which mode the Fusion is running in; full electric or hybrid.The 3rd monitor shows motor and batter power. The fourth and final data screen shows power to the wheels and accessory power consumption.Information Displays reveal fuel consumption, Miles Per Gallon account, journey record, and antifreeze levels.A real time MPG information gauge easily displays to drivers which driving style would be best for fuel economy.

Seperating itself from the hybrid pack, the Fusion has seats made from reclaimed fabric.Ford has finally come out with a fuel efficient car that will appeal to the masses and be a leading competitor to Toyota and Honda’s hybrids.
